The Story Of The 5-Year-Old Fisherman.
Trinitas Back to School

Poverty has a profound negative impact on a child’s development.

In Nigeria, where extreme poverty is common and life is unpredictable, many children are unable to attend school, because they’re forced to spend their time helping their families survive.

This is the story of Mercy and his classmates.

Trinitas Back To School Campaign.

Mercy lives in a riverine, impoverished community in Lagos, Nigeria where fishing is the order of the day. The children in this community hardly attend school because they are forced to help their parents in fishing activities, leaving them no opportunity for quality education.

Five-year-old Mercy is one of the most remarkable children in the community.

The school Mercy goes to was established by one of his teachers Mr. Adeoluwa Tobi who is also a fisherman and goes fishing to pay the rent of the school and other bills but it wasn’t enough.

He also had some friends volunteering to teach the children daily because he couldn’t pay teachers.

However, The school has not been able to open since early July, due to the unstable structure of the building. The building is close to collapsing and is no longer safe for purpose.

104 children have stopped going to school. Until things change, there will be no hope for these children’s futures.

They want to go back to school because it’s where they feel safe and secure. But they can’t do that unless the building is safe for them!

We at Trinitas Foundation are working hard to help rebuild as soon as possible, but right now our main focus needs to be on making sure the children can go back to school safely and get back into the routine of learning.

We believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment where they can learn and grow.

Every single donation helps us provide a better future for these children.

With 5 Million Naira (N5,000,000), we will be able to provide a safe schooling environment for Mercy and his classmates—a place where they can learn, grow and feel secure.

We hope you’ll join us in making this dream come true!
